Candlelight vigil held for woman found dead in car in Vancouver

PORTLAND Oregon (KPTV) – Family and friends are remembering a Portland woman who was found dead in a car in Vancouver a week ago.

Courtney Clinton’s body was found in the car with her 1-year-old son in the 300 block of North Blandford Drive. Police said the child did not appear to have been physically injured.

According to the medical examiner (ME), Clinton, 31, died from cut wounds to her neck. The coroner also said it was unclear where she was when she was injured. His death was ruled a homicide.

On Friday evening, Clinton’s loved ones gathered at her former apartment in Southeast Portland for a candlelight vigil.

Clinton’s neighbors spelled out the letters “LLC” with the candles, meaning “Long Live Courtney.”

After a woman was found dead in a car alongside a living child last week in Vancouver, police said Thursday the woman’s death was likely a homicide.

“She changed everyone. She brought love to our family,” said Clinton’s aunt, Dawnetta Farlow.

Farlow was there the day Clinton was born and the day she had her last born, the same child who was found in the car with her body.

Farlow called Clinton, a mother of three, “a great mother who cared about her children and put her children first.”

According to Farlow, this is not the first of their family tragedies. She said two of Clinton’s brothers had died, one also from murder.

“I don’t know if they realize the damage they’ve done, not only to my family, but to his children, and it’s just very devastating,” Farlow said.

Vancouver police are still investigating Clinton’s murder. Anyone with information is asked to contact their tip line at (360) 487-7399.

The family organized a GoFundMe to support Clinton’s children and for a https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-courtney-clintons-children-and-farewellend of life ceremony.
