After a decisive defeat, Harris can spare us his “peaceful transfer of power” bullshit

During his almostconcession speech Vice President Kamala Harris told supporters on Wednesday that she called President-elect Donald Trump earlier in the day to congratulate him on his victory. Then came the knife.

Harris said: “I also told him that we would help him and his team with their transition and engage in a peaceful transfer of power. A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. This principle, like any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny.

The next day, President Joe Biden address the nation from the Rose Garden. At the start of his speech, he reiterated Harris’ commitment to a peaceful transfer of power.

Biden said: “Yesterday, I spoke with President-elect Trump to congratulate him on his victory. And I assured him that I would direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition. This is what the American people deserve.

Their mutual emphasis on a “peaceful and orderly transition” was clearly intended to mock Trump for his challenge to the 2020 election results. It amounted to saying, “We are so righteous and Trump is so vile and despicable.” »

Let’s enlighten them.

First, although Democratic pollsters tell voters every day that the race was “neck and neck,” Trump’s victory in 2024 was decisive. There is nothing to dispute.

Trump swept every battleground state, some by wide margins. He won the popular vote by more than 3 points. The last Republican candidate to do so was former President George W. Bush in 2004.

Trump even managed to cut Biden’s victory margins by 50% in deep blue states like New York, New Jersey and Illinois, and by almost half in California.

Perhaps the most informative moment of election night came from CNN. Jake Tapper and John King stood in front of an interactive election map, and Tapper asked King to show him the counties in which Harris had outperformed Biden.

After the card is gone completely dark, Tapper said: “Holy smokes. Literally nothing, literally not a single county.

Second, after the numerous ” anomalies ” that occurred during the 2020 election cycle, the Republican Party prepared for unfair acts ahead of the 2024 elections. In April, the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee announced the launch of an election integrity program. According to the RNC press releasethis program was designed “to deploy more than 100,000 dedicated volunteers and advocates to every battleground state, as part of the RNC’s commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in the 2024 elections.”

Trump is quoted in the memo: “Having the right people to count the ballots is just as important as voting on Election Day. Republicans are now working together to protect the vote and secure a big victory on November 5! »

At the time this program was launched, I had little confidence that it would actually be useful. Fortunately, I was wrong. He spotted irregularities as they occurred, filed charges immediately, and most cases were resolved in court. Before Election day.

Fox News reported that as of mid-October, “at least 165 election-related lawsuits had already been filed.” The cases involved concerns such as voter eligibility, “how ballots are cast and counted, and how to ensure election security and protect against allegations of voter fraud.”

Although the majority of lawsuits were filed in battleground states, the highest-profile case involved Virginia’s removal of 1,600 non-citizens state voter rolls before the election. After two lower courts ordered the state to restore the names, Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) appealed the decision. case to the Supreme Court and won.

Third, Harris’ defeat is no mystery. She’s a liar and a terrible candidate. No one has explained Harris’s flaws as well as National review Jeffrey Blehar, who wrote“(T)he fault starts with none other than Kamala Harris. I can’t think of a more brutally honest way to describe his entire political life than as a fundamental error with historic consequences. …A politician like Harris should never have existed in a just world.

Blehar continued: “She should never have been able to run for president. She was and remains a foolish person whose only previous success had come from a life spent slavishly working her way up to the greasy pole of California politics: a country where merit and intellect matter far less than profile. demographics, appearance and availability. »

Harris’ only concern was abortion. She warned voters that once in office, Trump would push for a national ban on abortion. Only she could save them from such injustice. Did Harris ever realize that women buy groceries and gas far more often than they have abortions? They worry about crime. Some even have daughters who are forced to compete against biological men in sports.

She repeatedly said, without evidence, that Trump was a fascist who posed a threat to our democracy. If re-elected, Harris said, he would destroy the Constitution and even use the criminal justice system against his enemies. Crazy, huh?

Inexplicably, even though she has been in the current administration for almost four years, she has attempted to present herself as the “new way forward.” Voters found this disingenuous.

In the end, she had nothing substantial to offer them.

So please spare us your “peaceful transfer of power” fallacies and virtue signaling and go away.
