Watch Cavalry FC host Hamilton Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League Final live from Calgary

The game is played at ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows in Calgary., following Cavalry FC’s victory over Forge FC in the qualifying semi-final for the right to host the championship match.

Coverage of the CPL final features CBC Sports’ Andi Petrillo leading an on-site panel alongside analysts Gareth Wheeler and Kristian Jack, who will also report from the field, and former CPL defender York United FC Jordan Wilson.

Hamilton’s Forge is seeking a fifth title – and third in a row – in its sixth playoff appearance. Forge won the title in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023 and finished second in 2021. Calvary FC reached its first final last year.

Both teams automatically qualified for the CONCACAF Champions Cup, North America’s top continental club soccer competition, after finishing the regular season in the top two.

Forge FC finished atop the regular season standings with 15-8-5 and 50 points. Cavalry FC came in just behind with 12-12-4 and 48 points.

Forge FC head coach Bobby Smyrniotis, excluded in five previous nominations, finally won the coach of the year award to go along with his four Canadian Premier League titles on Thursday.

Tommy Wheeldon Jr. of Cavalry FC was nominated for this award after winning it twice previously.

Forge FC’s Tristan Borges was named CPL Player of the Year for the second time. Kwasi Poku, sold by Forge to Belgian RWD Molenbeek for a record transfer in August, was chosen best Canadian U-21 player.

Cavalry’s Daan Klomp won Defender of the Year for the second straight season. Pacific FC’s Emil Gazdov won the Golden Glove Award as the league’s best goalkeeper. York forward Brian Wright won the player award.

Tobias Warschewski, CPL top scorer and 2024 Player of the Year nominee, will lead the home team’s attack in the final.

While the CPL currently has teams in eight cities (Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa and Halifax), commissioner Mark Noonan said Friday in Calgary that the league intends to expand by two teams in 2026.
