Frankie Muniz involved in NASCAR crash during Phoenix race

Actor-turned-NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz was involved in a serious accident during Friday’s Craftsman Truck Series championship at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona.

“I had nowhere to go. I got hit from behind,” he explained. “I got hit from behind in the 42…and the 18 stopped there. I went straight into him.

He also said he was grateful to his team and the experience he gained during Friday’s race.

“I felt like I had a good opportunity to run with some guys, I made a few passes,” he noted. “I lost a few places on the restarts and then came back and passed them again.”

“So it was good for me to figure out how to deal with people, you know, I haven’t really been able to do much this year, so that was really positive.”

Muniz, who rose to fame as a child starring in the family sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” between 2000 and 2006, also confirmed he will be back on the circuits next year.

“We’re going to be better next year and I’ve had the whole offseason to prepare and we’re going to get there,” he said enthusiastically.

He announced in October that he would join Reaume Brothers Racing for a full-time spot to drive the No. 33 F-150 in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Seriesscheduled to kick off in February at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
