Former Wisconsin basketball star Brad Davison and wife Tyra Buss welcome baby girl

Brad Davison is a first-time girl dad.

Former Wisconsin basketball star and his wife, Tyra Buss Davisonwelcomed their first child, Maya Marie, on Tuesday morning.

“God’s greatest blessing – a perfect gift from above,” Brad wrote on his X account on Thursday. “Tyra and I feel so blessed and grateful.”

“The most precious and perfect gift from above – Brad and I couldn’t be more grateful! Mommy and Daddy love you more than you can imagine, sweet little girl! We are the most lucky guy in the world!” Tyra wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you everyone for all the prayers!”

And it didn’t take long for baby Maya to discover Mom and Dad’s favorite sport.

Among the photos posted to Brad and Tyra’s social media accounts featuring Maya was an image of the newborn with a stuffed basketball.

Basketball is Brad and Tyra’s livelihood.

Both were standout collegiate players – Brad for the Badgers from 2017 to 2022 and Tyra at Indiana from 2014 to 2018 – and are now continuing their basketball careers in Spain.

Davison plays for the Obradoiro CAB basketball team based in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain. Tyra recently performed for Hozono Global Jairis in Murcia, Spain.

If Maya is like her parents, she will become a basketball star.

Brad had a record-breaking five-year career with the Badgers and is No. 1 in the program record book for most three-pointers made.

Tyra left Indiana in 2018 as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,364 points. The former two-time All-American is now No. 2 but remains one of only two players in Indiana women’s basketball history with more than 2,000 points. Tyra leads the program in assists.

Tyra spent one season as assistant coach of the UW-Milwaukee women’s basketball team from 2021-22.
