This evening at 6 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Garfield for a shooting call.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to a residence located in the block. Inside this residence, officers found an adult male victim of a shooting who was unconscious. Officers summoned emergency services to the scene who pronounced the victim dead.

Several people were present on the scene when the police arrived. One of them, an adult male, was arrested as a subject of interest for further investigation.

Detectives are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was inside the residence when he had an interaction with a suspect which escalated and resulted in gunshots being fired and the victim being struck.

We are committed to helping victims of violent crime by utilizing the Missouri Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary or even permanent relocation may be available, but is subject to prior approval by the administering State agency.

We work with Partners for Peace in all of our homicide investigations to monitor risks of retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
