Celebrity lookalike contests continue with Harry Styles and Paul Mescal

Why only have one Harry Styles, Paul Mescal And Timothée Chalamet when you can have dozens?

Celebrity lookalike contests have taken the internet by storm in recent weeks, popping up in cities around the world. Most recently, Styles’ lookalikes gathered in London’s Soho Square on Saturday for a competition.

Journalist Katrina Mirpuri was behind the event, which attracted a crowd of more than 100 people and 12 lookalikes of the Grammy-winning singer who entered the competition. The winner won a grand prize of £50.

The Styles event came just days after several Mescal lookalikes gathered in Dublin, Ireland, for their own competition. The winner’s prize was three pints, €20 and bragging rights.

Last month, lookalike contests apparently began in New York with people looking like Timothée Chalamet. The contest attracted a massive crowd to the city, along with the real Chalamet, a police response, and $50 prizes for all participants.

YouTuber Anthony Po, who was behind the Chalamet lookalike contest, previously spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about why he organized the event. “I’m just trying to do public stunts, like performance art type stuff,” he said at the time. “I think it’s really funny, and I think right now a lot of creators aren’t really creating anything. They’re just sort of comment chains in a weird way. So me and Paige (his producer and assistant) sit around all day and all day and think about what would be fun? What would get people talking? Wholesome, fun stuff that people can watch for free and tell their grandkids about.

So…the big question is which celebrity is next on the list?
