No. 6 Penn State dominates Washington in 2024 White Out: Live Updates Recap

FINAL: Penn State 35, Washington 6

FOURTH QUARTER

4:50 p.m. Penn State put this one on ice with a 1-yard touchdown run from Kaytron Allen. The Nittany Lions’ drive lasted 16 plays, 70 yards and nearly nine minutes.

On the drive, freshman running back Corey Smith made his Penn State debut with an 8-yard first down. Tyler Warren also set a few Penn State single-season records for yards and receptions by a tight end.

Penn State 28, Washington 6

1:33 p.m.- Abdul Carter had his second sack of the night on third down to push Washington out of touchdown range. Jedd Fisch went for another field goal despite the huge deficit.

THIRD QUARTER

Penn State 28, Washington 3

0:00- Washington went for it on fourth-and-12, and quarterback Demond Williams (who relieved Will Rogers in the second half) let up a prayer in the end zone. PSU corner Jalen Kimber was flagged for defensive pass interference, giving the Huskies new life at the turn of the quarter. They will have a second and 5 from the PSU 5.

6:09 a.m.- A wild streak took place to start the second half. Penn State’s Nick Singleton returned the kickoff for a touchdown, but a questionable holding call brought it back. Star tight end Tyler Warren caught a pass over the middle and fumbled, giving Washington the ball with a chance to score. Upon review, the fumble was upheld although it was a close call – a fumble similar to Ohio State’s fumble last week that was ultimately ruled an incomplete pass.

Washington didn’t take full advantage of the opportunity, driving to the PSU 6 before scoring a field goal, another questionable decision with such a large deficit.

Penn State kicker Ryan Barker missed a 44-yard kick on the ensuing Nittany Lion drive, the first miss of his young career.

SECOND QUARTER

Penn State 28, Washington 0

0:00- Washington decided not to take a chance after a two-minute timeout near its 40, and Penn State made the Huskies pay. The Nittany Lions drove down the field with ease, 68 yards during the two-minute drive, and capped it with the first touchdown of wide receiver Julian Fleming’s PSU career. It was also the first score by a Penn State receiver in Big Ten play.

Penn State 21, Washington 0

3:23- Penn State took advantage of Jaylen Reed’s interception. Tyler Warren scored his second rushing touchdown of the night, this time a little easier on the left edge. OL Vega Ioane opened the scoring with a point block.

Penn State 14, Washington 0

7:31 a.m.- PSU safety Jaylen Reed ran under a nasty deep ball and recovered it. His third interception of the year, continuing to play at an All-Big Ten pace.

9:22 a.m.- Tight end Tyler Warren, who always seems to appear in the White Out, has another touchdown. He took a wild snap and jumped over the line of scrimmage two yards to extend the lead. Wideout Harrison Wallace III is off to a good start with four receptions and 56 yards.

FIRST QUARTER

Penn State 7, Washington 0

0:00- Abdul Carter with his seventh sack of the season (and a forced fumble recovered by Washington) helped Penn State get off the field after its touchdown. Offensively, the Lions face a third down on their own territory after the quarter break.

3:47- Penn State drove down the field with relative ease on its first drive for a score, its third opening touchdown of the season. Backup quarterback Beau Pribula took a speed option on the left side and had a wide route to the end zone. After a brief examination, the piece was accepted.

Penn State benefited from a targeted call on Washington’s Thaddeus Dixon, who was the Huskies’ top corner this season. PSU RB Nick Singleton looked the freshest he has in a long time with 31 yards on four carries.

7:48 a.m.- Washington went 13 plays and 42 yards on its first drive, eating up just over seven minutes of time. However, the Huskies kicked a 45-yard field goal up the right upright, keeping it scoreless.

Penn State had an offside call on DT Zane Durant and a holding penalty on DB Zion Tracy (on third down) that helped the Huskies extend the drive.

3:00 p.m. – Penn State won the coin toss and went into the second half. Washington will start with the ball.

STATE COLLEGE — The White Out is here.

No. 6 Penn State (7-1) and Washington (5-4) will face off at 8 p.m. at Beaver Stadium on Peacock. Penn State is coming off its first loss of the season against No. 2 Ohio State, while the Huskies won a close one last week against former Pac-12 rival USC.

Washington is led by first-year head coach Jedd Fisch, who came from Arizona after Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama. DeBoer and last year’s Huskies were national runners-up to Michigan, but tons of stars from that team have left for the NFL or through the transfer portal.

Quarterback Will Rogers, a transfer from Mississippi State, runs the show while running back Jonah Coleman has rushed for over 100 yards in back-to-back games. Defensively, Washington has the second-best pass defense in the country in terms of yards allowed.

PRE-GAME UPDATES

— Starting defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton and key defensive tackle Coziah Izzard were both listed as questionable in the pregame availability report. Both warmed up in uniform.

Penn State received Class of 2027 commitment ahead of kickoff from Delaware OL Layton von Brandt.

—Beaver Stadium met that of James Franklin introduction to the pre-match video board with a large handful of boos.
