A laundry company is giving a whole new meaning to the word “clean” at its Hawaii facility.

Alsco Uniforms, a large-scale supplier of linens and uniforms to industries including automotive, food and healthcare, has officially switched all operations at its Honolulu factory to solar power in last June, CityBuzz reported.

According to the news outlet, the facility’s new solar power system will produce more than one million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, saving Alsco Uniforms a fortune. The company’s future savings per year on utility bills is estimated at $435,000.

And that’s not all: the amount of pollution avoided by switching Alsco Uniforms to a clean energy source is equal to planting over 12,000 trees. It’s smart business It’s also a big step forward for the company as it does its part to stop the planet from overheating further and protect Hawaii’s natural resources.

It’s very special for a large laundry or textile company abandon dirty fuel since these industries are notorious polluters, material waste has water contamination by microplastics.

The Honolulu project was built over the past two years in partnership with solar and battery installer Hawai’i Unified. The companies carried out the project in two phases to ensure the smooth running of operations.

Alsco Uniforms has also not completed plans to install similar systems in North America, according to CityBuzz.

“We are extremely proud of our partnership with Alsco Uniforms to bring renewable energy to their facilities,” Ryno Irwin, CEO of Hawai‘i Unified, said in a statement. press release. “Our businesses share a philosophy of reducing pollution in our state to give younger generations a chance to enjoy our beautiful island environment.”

“This solar installation not only adds to (our) sustainable model, but also reinforces our commitment to environmental stewardship in the communities we serve,” added Tim Stuewer, director of operations support at Alsco Uniforms.
