Identity of resident who shot 2 employees at seniors’ residence revealed

The New London Police Department investigated a shooting Friday at a New London seniors’ residence, where a resident killed himself after injuring two employees.

The shooting took place in the lobby and offices of Windy Acres, a 32-unit 62-and-over facility located in a sleepy village 30 miles north of Mansfield.

Police discovered the two victims were the office manager and a maintenance worker.

New London police said both victims have since been released from the hospital and are resting at home.

A resident of the complex, Roger Murray, 70, was identified as the shooter who shot the two employees and himself, according to police.

After a preliminary investigation, police said Murray’s motive stemmed from the fact that he had filed several repair requests for his apartment and felt they were not being adequately met.

New London police said they were even more upset about the case because of an ongoing inspection at the scene.
