‘Ready to give JioHotstar domain to Reliance for free’: Dubai siblings share new update

Another twist has emerged in the history of the JioHotstar.com domain, now owned by siblings Jainam and Jivika, two young philanthropists based in Dubai. After careful consideration, the duo apparently decided to offer the domain to Reliance for free, according to their website.

This unexpected new twist began when Jainam and Jivika purchased the domain from a Delhi-based developer who had initially registered it in the hope of securing funds for his MBA at Cambridge University. The developer’s initial plan to sell the estate to Reliance fell through when it reportedly refused its asking price of ₹1 crore, prompting the developer to list it elsewhere. Jainam and Jivika, who purchased it solely to support her educational aspirations, now find themselves at the center of unexpected media and public interest.

Following recent questions about the fate of the domain and its link to a possible Jio-Hotstar merger, Jainam and Jivika used their platform to clear up any misconceptions. “Recently we have received many emails from people wanting to purchase the domain,” they shared. “To check if these offers were real, we contacted some of them. We found that although some offers were fake, a few were serious and offered a lot of money. However, Jainam and Jivika stressed that they never intended to sell it and made it clear to all potential buyers that the estate was not for sale.

The siblings revealed that the sudden attention and speculation was unforeseen. “Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of discussion and even a few videos about why we own the domain and whether it is related to a possible business deal between Jio and Hotstar,” they explained. Yet, they reiterated that their only goal was to support the developer and use the platform to share their own seva (service) journey with their followers. The JioHotstar domain, they said, was merely a beneficial tool, not a pawn in a corporate deal.

After careful consideration, Jainam and Jivika decided to offer the domain to Reliance for free. “We are happy to offer them JioHotstar.com for free, with all the appropriate documents,” they said. Clarifying their position, they added: “It is entirely our choice. No one from Reliance or any legal group has contacted us or pressured us in any way. Jainam and Jivika explained that this decision was made independently, without any outside influence from friends, family or industry insiders.

To facilitate the process, Jainam and Jivika directly invited Reliance to contact them at their email addresses. In a statement full of passion and determination, the siblings shifted their message to their current philanthropic platform, SevakArmy.com, through which they aim to mobilize volunteers across the world. “Our goal is simple but powerful: we want 100,000 people to volunteer just 20 hours a year. This would represent 2 million hours of service in the first year, which would be the equivalent of having 1,000 people working full time for a year to help NGOs.
