Montgomery helps Bison win home opener

Bermudian ice hockey player Bryce Montgomery helped the Bloomington Bison win their first-ever home game with a 3-1 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday (November 8).

Montgomery, a 6-foot-5, 231-pound defenseman, was recently reassigned by National Hockey League (NHL) team the Carolina Hurricanes from the Chicago Wolves to the Bison.

He scored the first goal of the ECHL regular season in a 4–2 victory against the Toledo Walleye.

The Bison lost 4-2 to the Iowa Heartlanders yesterday.

Montgomery’s younger brother, Blake Montgomery, was drafted by the NHL team, the Ottawa Senators, in June.

He currently plays for the Lincoln Stars – a junior team in the American Hockey League (USHL).
