3 of the Best Places for Solo Travel for Women, Including Hong Kong

Although women traveling alone around the world is nothing new, a report from Booking.com found that 54% of female travelers plan to travel alone in 2024.

A separate report released in 2023 by Road Scholar, which offers educational trips for seniors, indicated that 85% of the company’s trip participants who traveled alone were women.

Within the travel industry itself, there are a number of high-profile solo female travelers who consistently offer an inspiring look at what it means to be a woman who boldly explores the world.

Two of these women reveal their favorite places to explore solo and why.

Vincie Ho, founder of Rise Travel Institute

Vincie Ho is the founder and executive director of the US-based Rise Travel Institute. A nonprofit organization, Rise strives to cultivate a global community of conscious travelers. This effort includes offering courses on sustainable travel and leading “Rise Experiential Journeys.”

The trips, which in 2024 included a trip to Mexico’s Yucatan region, are organized with Rise’s commitment to sustainability and anti-oppression in mind, and teach participants how to be ethical and conscious visitors.
