Tri-City aims for eleven, Saskatoon looks to bounce back against Blazers

One team on a ten-game winning streak, another looking to get back into the win column, and two teams looking to gain an advantage over each other. This weekend in the WHL is shaping up to be an exciting one and we here at THN have three competitions you should watch.

Saskatoon Blades @ Kamloops Blazers

Saskatoon has been a force to be reckoned with all season, especially with the return of the Nashville Predators prospect. Tanner Molendyk adding fluid dynamics to the blue line. The 2-1 loss to the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night was certainly a blow to team morale, but we’ve learned so far that this is a team that just gets back up and keeps going. On the other hand, Kamloops is in great shape, with a three-game winning streak; picking up two wins against the Victoria Royals, as well as one against the Spokane Chiefs. The two top scorers Ben Riche And Nathan Behm should have a field day for their respective clubs.

Red Deer Rebels @ Tri-City Americans

The Americans have reached the elusive ten-game mark on their winning streak and are looking to add another notch against Red Deer. Recruited to the WHL Gavin Garland has been lighting things up lately for Tri-City, putting up 20 points in his first 15 contests. Historically, the Rebels have been good against the Americans, winning the last two meetings, but Tri-City is 8-1-0-0 at home heading into Saturday’s game. Minnesota Wild prospect Chase Wutzke holds down the fort in Red Deer, posting a .904 save percentage in 13 appearances this season.

Vancouver Giants @ Prince George Cougars

This one is a two-for-one deal! Two teams that have been heating up of late, Vancouver and Prince George, will play two games at the CN Center on Saturday and Sunday, with both clubs looking to maintain their upward momentum. Top prospect in the 2025 NHL Draft Cameron Schmidt is aiming to become the first WHL player this season to score 20 goals, and he could very well achieve that this weekend. On the other side, the selection of the Washington Capitals Terik Parascak looks to extend its point streak to eight games while collecting 16 points in its previous seven games.
