Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan team up for singing competition series ‘The Road’

Blake Shelton has a new TV show on the horizon – and this time Taylor Sheridan joins him for the ride.

On Monday, November 11, it was announced that The roada new singing competition series has been commissioned for fall 2025.

Directed by executive producers Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, Lee Metzger and David Glasser, the CBS docuseries will follow “a headlining superstar (to be announced) on his journey to discover the next big artist,” according to a release press.

The road will offer “a behind-the-scenes look at the difficult and unforgiving life of a touring artist” with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the music industry. The series will show “what happens when some of the best emerging artists pile onto a tour bus and tackle a grueling schedule in pursuit of their dreams,” according to a press release.

On The roadmusicians will join the headliner on tour, opening for venues across the country, and they will compete to win over local fans to land a spot in the next city and stay on tour.

“I’m a huge fan of Taylor’s incredible work and am thrilled to team up with him and my longtime collaborator, Lee, on The road” said Shelton, 48. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a musical dream and live your life on tour. I look forward to discovering new talents and giving them this platform.

Sheridan, 54, added: “A revolution is happening in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of this revolution is an incredibly exciting endeavor. No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road – literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win over the crowd. Do it enough and you will become the next leader. As simple as that.

Glasser, 53, called the project “a true labor of love.”

“I can’t thank CBS enough for supporting us on this journey to bring an incredible project to audiences around the world,” he said.

Shelton currently hosts the celebrity game show Barmageddon with Carson Daly, and has judged singing competitions, including those on NBC The voice And Nashville Star.

Sheridan is the creator of several television series including Yellow stone, 1883, Lioness, King of Tulsa and more.
