Wildcats’ upcoming game against Wisconsin billed as game of the week

After two resounding victories at the start of the season, the Arizona Wildcats are preparing to tackle a much more difficult part of their schedule.

After the Wildcats’ performance in their first two games, dominating both Point Loma (113-64) and Old Dominion (102-44), their next match at the end of the week will be widely watched on television.

Many also agree.

Monday, the NCAA digital reporter Andy Katz has released its first Games of the Week edition for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season. On the list of top ten matchups, Arizona’s next matchup on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers came in at number three.

Although Katz attended school at Wisconsin, bias isn’t necessary to make this matchup one of the most anticipated of the week. This game will surely be the first real test for Wildcats head coach Tommy Lloyd’s new team.

We’ll finally get a real idea of the Wildcats’ depth this Friday when they take on the Big Ten team. Will it be enough to make a run deeper than last season’s Sweet 16 loss?

Katz also moved Arizona forward during its recent “Power 37” basketball rankings following their two dominant wins to start the season. After starting the year ranked 17th on the list, the Wildcats recently moved up to 13th.

“The Wildcats embarrassed Old Dominion 102-44. Tommy Lloyd’s team is playing like it’s February with Caleb Love picking up where he left off last season as Pac-12 Player of the Year,” Katz wrote.

Love finished the win over ODU as one of five players to reach double figures for the Wildcats. THE Preseason AP All-American had 10 points, three rebounds and an assist. He shot 4 of 9 from the field, including 40 percent from behind the three-point line.

This matchup falls just short of the Champions Classic, which features four of the best teams in the country. Michigan State Spartans, Kansas Jayhawks, Duke Blue Devils And Kentucky Wildcats. The game between Alabama Crimson Tide And Purdue Boilermakers came in at number two.

A dominant win against Wisconsin, which has three impressive wins this year to start the year, would surely put Arizona back in the conversation as one of the best teams in basketball. This will also be a huge test for the next game when Duke comes to town.

Tipoff at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET and will be available on Peacock.
