From following groups on social media apps like WhatsApp to physical clashes, protests and threats against Indians living in Canada, pro-Khalistani entities (PKEs) are increasingly targeting the Indian community there. According to Indian intelligence sources, following a meeting with like-minded Pakistani leaders in touch with Pakistan-based terrorist groups, Khalistan leaders amplified aggressive protests, especially in areas where the Indians gather in large numbers.

Sources said the meeting was held in the first week of November. The intensified protests could soon lead to violent clashes, with Indians being threatened, mistreated by the PKE and even sanctioned by local authorities in several cases.

Recent reports suggest that with the support of local police and other administrative agencies, these entities are successful in gathering information about Indians expressing opposition to Khalistan in different parts of Canada. Their addresses were shared in various groups along with their contact details, thereby putting Indian families at risk.

Sources indicate that Indian restaurateurs, students and professionals are mainly targeted by these violent Khalistani entities, who may attack Indians at various locations, including outside temples.

An official familiar with the situation said, “Various social media groups from different Indian communities have been infiltrated by Khalistan entities, who are using chats and messages to provoke Khalistan supporters. Additionally, small groups of people are threatening Indians, demanding that they support Khalistan or leave Canada immediately. »

Many professionals living in Canada have started selling their properties and are planning to return to India.

“I have lived in Canada since 2017, but I have never seen an environment like this. Now, groups are roaming the streets, ready to engage in violent altercations with Indian families. Families are forced to pack their bags and leave for India to ensure their safety,” said Arpit Tiwari, a 42-year-old software engineer, speaking to News18 over the phone. He added that Indians no longer do trust in local police, as many are believed to support Khalistani groups.

Indian intelligence agencies fear the situation could worsen by the end of this year, potentially becoming even more dangerous and difficult for Indians living in Canada.
