His continued efforts to support Arab causes have earned him a notable position on the regional and international fronts, making him a role model in advocating for issues in the Arab world.

The State of Qatar’s strong positions regarding Arab cooperation and solidarity are based on well-established principles drawn from its national constitution. As stipulated in Article 7 of the Constitution, the foreign policy of the State is based on the principle of strengthening international peace and security by encouraging the peaceful settlement of international disputes; and support the right of peoples to self-determination; and shall not interfere in the internal affairs of States; and will cooperate with peace-loving nations. These principles guide Qatar’s foreign policy towards supporting Arab causes and strengthening unity and integration in regional and international forums.

In this context, the State of Qatar draws its strength from its rich cultural and civilizational heritage, which constitutes a fundamental element of its identity. Qatar adopts a moderate and culturally and religiously tolerant approach in its relations with different parties, which contributes to improving communication and cooperation with all. It is proud of its affiliation to the Gulf and Arab countries, being an active member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in addition to its membership in many regional and international organizations. Since its independence in 1971, Qatar has dedicated its efforts to promoting international cooperation, establishing its presence in the United Nations, the Arab League, the GCC and the OIC. These measures aim to strengthen its regional role in the economic, political and cultural fields, as well as to support inter-civilizational dialogue and contribute to global peace and security.

A historic step in this regard was the visit of Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani to the Gaza Strip on October 1, 2012, to support the brotherly Palestinian people living under Israeli siege. During this visit, HH Father Emir announced the provision of aid and the implementation of development projects to help the people of Gaza, which were subsequently realized. Since the start of the Israeli aggression against Gaza on October 7, 2023, the State of Qatar has intensified its diplomatic efforts through active mediation in cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States, leading to several temporary pauses . Qatar continued its efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and alleviate the suffering of Gazans, but stubborn Israeli positions prevented this.

Since the start of the Syrian crisis in March 2011, the State of Qatar has always affirmed its position of support for the Syrian people. Qatar is committed to providing humanitarian assistance to Syrian citizens affected by the crisis, whether internally displaced or refugees in neighboring states. The total humanitarian aid provided by Qatar reached approximately $1.6 billion, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people and supporting them during this time of crisis.

As for Yemen, since the outbreak of the Yemeni crisis in January 2011, the State of Qatar has committed to standing alongside the Yemeni people, providing them with support and humanitarian aid, both financial and in kind, through its charitable organizations. This effort aims to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the war in Yemen.

In line with its commitment to stability issues in the Arab world, Qatar’s efforts led to the establishment of peace between the Sudanese government and several rebel movements in the Darfur region, culminating in the signing of the Doha Document for peace in Darfur in July 2011.

Qatar continued to provide emergency humanitarian assistance following the outbreak of the current crisis in Sudan in April 2023, reaffirming its continued commitment to supporting the Sudanese people in the current circumstances.

The State of Qatar has also played an active role in resolving the crises that Lebanon has faced and continues to do so. In July 2006, Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani visited the Lebanese capital, Beirut, which had suffered significant destruction due to Israeli aggression, and where Qatar had provided significant aid to the Lebanese people.

The State of Qatar has continued to provide support and assistance to Lebanon in the context of the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 2023, which has intensified in recent weeks. This reaffirms Qatar’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the resilience of the Lebanese people and supporting them in difficult times.

Regarding the situation in Libya, the State of Qatar has always fulfilled its duty towards its Libyan brothers, supporting the results of the political agreement between the conflicting parties in Libya. Qatar also facilitated reconciliation between the Tebu and Tuareg tribes, leading to the signing of a peace agreement in Doha in November 2015. This agreement represents a step towards comprehensive reconciliation, harmony, unity and stability , reflecting Qatar’s enduring commitment to promoting stability and peace. in the region through diplomatic efforts and constructive dialogue. Qatari diplomacy is recognized for its positive and active role in mediating between parties in Somalia, in addition to its distinguished efforts to restore diplomatic relations between Somalia and Kenya in May 2021. These initiatives have strengthened the regional and international position of the State of Qatar, as the Somali people view Qatar with great appreciation and respect for its sincere brotherly support. This reflects Qatar’s commitment to achieving stability and promoting cooperation in the region. Recognizing the importance of Arab cooperation, the State of Qatar continues its efforts to strengthen Arab solidarity in various fields, aiming to strengthen Arab unity and express the concerns and problems of the Arab people, while striving to guarantee their right to live in dignity, stability, prosperity and development. In this context, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will participate on Monday in the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit planned in Riyadh, the sister kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This summit follows the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Gaza, which took place in Riyadh in November 2023. Leaders of Arab and Islamic countries hope that this summit will result in unified efforts and a collective position that reflects a common vision. willingness to confront the serious and unprecedented challenges facing the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the Gaza Strip, as well as several other Arab countries, which requires strengthening Arab and Islamic solidarity.
