Application to provide an easy path to the city

A few simple messages to report just about any problem or concern is the idea behind a new app that should soon be available on cell phones throughout the Pauls Valley.

The green light has been given to something called My Civic – an app platform designed to better connect Pauls Valley residents with their city’s municipal government.

Just as important is that the app coming out in a few weeks will give people an easy way to report a variety of things, while also allowing the City of PV to keep people informed in real time about issues as they arise of their development and community events.

City workers Jesika Winn and Abigail Clemens were tasked with finding a better way for the city and local residents to communicate with each other. They started by contacting Tyler Technologies, a company that currently works with the city on employee billing and timesheets.

This seems like a perfect match since the company actually had an app called My Civic.

“We wanted to find a way to get more citizens involved, report issues and learn more about what’s going on in the city,” Winn said, adding that the duo’s work began with a request from the council municipal of PV.

“Through this app, people will be able to report water leaks, know when there is a water outage and how long it affects them, and know about road closures. Hopefully this will help us find many leaks.

“They will have the city in their hands, will know everything it offers.”

For now, the app is being prepared for the city, which will soon be able to customize it with the “bells and whistles” that best fit Pauls Valley.

Some examples Winn gives include information about water leaks and outages and various city programs and facilities like the Reynolds Recreation Center and the local animal shelter.

“We’re going to try to get it out there and let people know it’s available,” Winn said.

“I hope people can pay their water bills with this app, maybe even their tickets.”

The cost to the City for the application, now approved by City Council, is $3,750 for startup and the first year and $1,725 for each subsequent year.
