The City of Winnipeg is informing residents of the consequences of a possible Canada Post strike on its departments and services.

The Postal Workers Union said its workers will be able to strike starting Friday. Canada Post said it would work to minimize service interruptions in the event of a strike, but customers could experience delays. Property and business taxes can be paid online, at a bank or credit union, or in person at 510 Main Street or 170 Goulet Street.

Tickets issued by the Winnipeg Parking Authority can be paid online or in person at 495 Portage Avenue, 510 Main Street, 170 Goulet Street, or by placing a check or money order in the drop boxes at 495 Portage Avenue and at the Millennium Library Parking Lot.

“Payment of unpaid fines is still required, regardless of delivery interruption by Canada Post,” the release said about parking tickets.

Individuals who need to apply for or renew a business license must do so in person at 395 Main Street in the event of a strike. Licenses can also be renewed online.

Pet owners wishing to apply for or renew a pet license can do so online or in person at 1057 Logan Ave., the city said in a news release Tuesday.
