Scott Jennings gets angry at anti-Trump comedians

CNN Scott Jennings pissed off panel after ripping late night comedians and their reaction to president-elect that of Donald Trump victory.

On Information evening with Abby PhillipJennings lashed out Jimmy Kimmel for having “cried” because of election and asked when liberal late-night comedians would try to be funny again. Jennings praised HBO Bill Mahersays the liberal comedian who often targets “Woke” liberals “understand.”

“The rest of these people have become pathetic. I mean, they stopped being comedians and started becoming political activists. I mean, Jimmy Kimmel here crying? I mean, it’s pathetic. And so my question is, if you put on a late night comedy show, at some point people might expect it to be funny and not just constant political rant against one party, and I don’t don’t do it. know that this activism for another four years is sustainable if you want to market something as a comedy, but the actual product is nothing more than a kind of low-key political activism,” Jennings said.

“These people represent what a lot of people feel, so it would actually be interesting if Trump’s people could make us feel ‘we’re not going to take away your rights,’ and that doesn’t make sense, you think that it doesn’t make sense, a lot of people think it makes sense. That’s how a lot of people feel,” writer and podcaster. Toure replied.

“It’s their audience,” Phillip added.

“Is this their mission? To be activists and not actors? » asked Jennings.

“Well, sometimes the comedian stops telling jokes and says serious things,” Touré said.

Jennings stuck to his point of view.

“During the Biden years, no one provided as much fodder for comedy as Joe Biden,” Jennings said, sparking fresh outrage on the panel as Touré, Phillip and others insisted that the president Joe Biden was mocked while Jennings dismissed this.

Podcaster Josh Barro Cut through the noise to argue that the biggest problem for comedians is that people are “a little bored” of Trump.

“People might also want to escape,” Phillip said, adding that humor “wouldn’t go down very well” with this “new crowd,” citing That of Elon Musk critical of Dana Carvey Saturday evening live impression of him. Trump has repeatedly said Musk will play a role in his administration.

As panelists piled on Trump and some of his past controversial statements, Jennings said Trump was “the only one telling jokes in this election.”

“In the best of times, as in the best of times and in the worst of times, what comedy does exceptionally well is tell the story of who we are as American people,” said one CNN contributor. Léa Wright Rigor added. “One thing I’ll add before the break is that I think we’re actually going to see a significant increase in the amount of comedy directed at the left and the Democratic Party, because comedy at its best is about giving punches upwards, not downwards.
