Fake gun leads to real takedown in Guelph

Guelph police are reminding the public that fake weapons can have real consequences following a high-risk takedown Friday afternoon.

Around 2:45 p.m., police received several calls from concerned citizens. They were told a man and woman were brandishing a gun near Waterloo Avenue and Woodycrest Drive. Officers rushed to the scene and ordered both men to the ground.

The gun was turned over to police and officers determined it was a replica.

No charges have been filed.
