Kingdom Story and Lionsgate extend their first agreement

Fresh off success with their holiday family comedy The best Christmas competition ever, Lions Gate and faith Society History of the Kingdom have agreed to renew their first three-year contract, extending the studios’ total collaboration to 10 years.

The deal caps Kingdom Story Company’s largest slate to date, which included three films with Lionsgate in 2024: Ordinary angelswith Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson; Unsung HeroGrammy-winning religious artist Joel Smallbone; and the above The best Christmas competition everwhich topped tracking by opening with $11.1 million at the domestic box office last weekend ($12.2 million/4 days) and is well-positioned to continue playing through the holiday season.

Dallas Jenkins (from The elected officials fame) directed the latter film, starring Judy Greer and Pete Holmes, which adapts the children’s book by Barbara Robinson. Each of the films developed and produced by Kingdom released this year is expected to generate profits for the studio.

Kingstone Story Company also announced today that Brandon Gregorytheir president and chief operating officer for more than five years, was promoted to partner.

Founded in 2019 by brothers Jon and Andrew Erwin, Kevin Downes and Tony Young, Kingdom Story Company came together following the success of the Erwins’ project. In addition to The best Christmas competition everLionsgate just released the Cillian Murphy film Little things like thesee, which will be released in theaters on November 8. The studio’s next big film coming out soon is Gerard Butler’s. Den of Thieves 2: Pantera on January 10.
