Diddy got bond hearing, but government expected to protest

A judge has given Sean “Diddy” Combs a glimmer of hope as he desperately tries to be released from prison before his criminal trial begins in 2025. According to court documents obtained by AllHipHopJudge Arun Subramanian scheduled a hearing for Diddy’s motion to bind for November 22.

Judge Subramanian ordered prosecutors to respond to Diddy’s motion by Friday, November 15. The disgraced hip-hop mogul’s response is expected on November 20.

Diddy’s lawyers filed a new bail motion on November 8. They proposed a “much stronger” bail package and said new evidence undermined the prosecution’s case for keeping Diddy in custody.

“The evidence clearly shows that the government’s case is thin,” Diddy’s lawyers argued. “This confirms the defense’s initial description of the events depicted in the March 2016 video recording (which was incorrect): the video is not evidence of a forced ‘panic,’ but rather a glimpse of a few minutes of ‘a complex consensual relationship but which lasted ten years. between Mr. Combs and Victim-1 (believed to be Cassie).

“Additionally, the new evidence refutes the government’s assertion at the initial hearing regarding a potential second alleged victim. And the new evidence confirms that the government’s allegations of obstruction and witness tampering during early bail hearings lacked factual basis.”

Diddy’s legal team also claimed his prison conditions violated his right to participate in his defense.

“Given the government’s modified estimate of the amount of findings in this case – and its unique format including voluminous video and photographic evidence – Mr. Combs’ release on the proposed conditions is necessary so that he can review the discovery and prepare for trial,” his lawyers wrote. “Despite the MDCs every effort to meet the needs of the defense team, the current arrangements make preparation for the trial impossible, as evidenced by the recent sweep of the premises by several agencies and the resulting lockdown. The Bail Reform Act and the Constitution require more.

Diddy has remained in prison since his arrest in September 2024 Stop for sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. His trial is scheduled for May 2025.
