Crime Brief: Woman charged after 14 car windows smashed with bat in Saskatoon

A 42-year-old woman was charged with 14 counts of mischief after car windows were smashed with a baseball bat in the 100 block of Pichler Crescent in Rosewood on Monday.

The woman also faces charges of possession of a weapon, concealment of a weapon and assault with a weapon after the bat was also thrown at a person, the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) announced Tuesday .

Police said they were called around 2 a.m. Nov. 11 after reports that someone had smashed car windows and the woman was arrested without incident. SPS said she also had a knife on her and they found a baseball bat at the scene.

Teenager arrested for attempted theft

An attempted robbery Saturday evening at a business in the suburban center of Blairmore resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old boy.

SPS said in a Nov. 12 news release that its officers were called to the business located in the 300 block of Shillington Crescent on Nov. 9 around 8:10 p.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance.

Police said they were told someone was trying to steal alcohol and was resisting security forces.

Officers obtained video evidence of the incident and the 15-year-old man faces charges of attempted theft of property under $5,000 and assault.

Man arrested for armed assault

A 40-year-old man facing outstanding arrest warrants has been arrested and charged with a number of new offenses including assault with a weapon and using an imitation firearm after an incident occurred in the city on November 9.

SPS said in a news release Tuesday that police were called around 8 a.m. to a hotel in the 1800 block of Idylwyld Drive after receiving a complaint that a man had pointed a gun during of a verbal altercation.

Police were informed that an unknown person approached the victim’s motorcycle and then fled after being arrested. A short time later, the man returned with a second man who police said pointed a gun at the victim.

The suspects were believed to have entered a nearby room, and SPS then arrested a man and discovered he had an imitation firearm.

The man was also charged with failing to comply with conditions imposed by the court.

Theft under investigation

Police are still investigating a robbery that occurred at a business in the 2800 block of Wanuskewin Road on November 8.

SPS said in a Nov. 12 news release that officers received a report of a robbery in progress and were informed that a man and woman armed with knives had threatened to stab a member staff before fleeing with alcohol.
