SMRT Goes Generation Z on TikTok

This is a recurring problem.

This is demonstrated once again when Stompers shared more photos of commuters eating and drinking on the MRT train.

Trampler Joshua shared a photo of a young man and woman standing near and disobeying an eating and drinking ban.

“Does our society now have the right to break the law?” Joshua wondered.

Sharing a photo of a young man sitting with an open can of Monster Mango Loco drink between his legs, Stomper K said the passenger was “happily” drinking on the train.

Trampler Anonymous shared a photo of another young couple sitting on the train and each holding a drink in a plastic cup.

“Those two were drinking on the train,” the Stomper explained.

The rule breakers all seemed to be around the same age – early 20s.

Perhaps that’s why on November 11, SMRT posted a video on TikTok about “graceful moves,” purportedly scripted by a Gen Z intern.

Filmed on an exhibition train, the light-hearted video contained cryptic Gen Z slang-laden lines such as “You know you’re cooked when you don’t give up your seat for others” and “If you’re really nonchalant , you would.” “I won’t eat or drink on our train. You’d better lock yourself in.”

In keeping with the over-the-top Gen Z vibe of the video, someone with the SG bus models The TikTok account commented: “Hello, I am commenting on your video to tell you that we have added infinite aura to your bank. This comment is from the transportation enthusiasts of generation Z, you sigma.”

The 50-second video has since been viewed more than 35,000 times.
