New Delhi: A clipping of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has gone viral on various social media platforms with claims that if actor Salman Khan apologizes, the Bishnoi community will forgive him.

Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be fake.

Yogi made no such statement and the viral clip was made by editing the video of a program on ABP News. The original video is from March 23, 2024, where the CM expounds his views on all issues, including elections, in a special program of ABP News, Manifesto.

What goes viral?

Facebook user Satyapal Fouzdar (Archive) posted a 27-second clip on November 7, 2024, with the following claim: “Salman should apologize and the matter will end #Lawrence Bishnoi will forgive: Yogi Adityanath. »

Investigation

Vishvas News has carefully analyzed Yogi Adityanath’s viral music video. After 27 seconds, he can be heard saying, “Who doesn’t worry about Salman? He gets a house. He receives food. He is receiving medical treatment, but he must also follow Indian law. It should follow the law of India. The country will operate according to the Constitution. Sharia law may be our personal matter, but Sharia law cannot be greater than the Constitution. And he should follow that. Indian people.

Based on this information, Vishvas News performed a keyword search. We didn’t find any news where CM Yogi made a statement on Salman Khan and Lawrence Bishnoi as claimed by the viral post.

After that, we extracted several key frames from the viral clip and searched them using Google Lens. We found the original video on the YouTube channel of ABP Newsuploaded on March 23, 2024, and saw that in the channel’s special show, the CM expressed his views on all issues, including elections. He announced that he would launch the Lok Sabha election campaign from Krishna’s town of Mathura.

In this video, CM Yogi spoke about Muslims while answering questions from ABP News anchor. CM’s response can be heard at minute 38:53, where he was talking about Muslims. The start of his statement was Salman Khan sorry

Amar Ujala.com also published a report on CM Yogi’s interview on March 24, 2024. The report said that in response to a question about concern for Muslims, CM Yogi said, “Who doesn’t care about Muslims?” They get houses. They receive food. But they must also respect Indian law. Respect the Constitution of India. Sharia law cannot be greater than the Constitution. If Muslims accept this, then the people of India will give them respect.

During the investigation, Vishvas News contacted BJP social media team co-convener Shashi Kumar, who confirmed that the chief minister had not made any such statement about Salman Khan, as claimed in the viral clip. News relating to a broadcast on a private channel was edited and distorted.

To conclude our investigation, we examined the profile of the user who shared the misleading message. We found that the user, named Satyapal Fouzdar, has over 47,000 followers on Facebook.

Conclusion: Vishvas’ News Investigation revealed that CM Yogi Adityanath’s viral video was edited. In March 2024, he made a statement about Muslims during a conversation with a news channel. Part of this video was edited and made viral with a false statement.
