A 5-year-old boy reported missing from Oregon has been found dead.

The body of Joshua James McCoy, who was last seen at his home on Stage Road in Hauser, Oregon, on the evening of Saturday, November 9, was found less than 2 miles away around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9 . 12, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said in a statement. release.

“It is with great sadness that we must announce that Joshua McCoy, who had been reported missing, has been found deceased,” CCSO wrote.

“On Tuesday, November 12, the search continued with the assistance of our federal, local search and rescue partners, as well as CORSAR. CORSAR provides additional search and rescue members from California and several Oregon counties.

“Today, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Joshua was discovered deceased and found approximately 2.6 miles in a straight line northwest of the child’s residence and nearly 2 miles by road,” the statement added.

Missing McCoy was found deceased on November 12.

A pond at the home “was drained and nothing of interest was found,” CCSO added of its search for the boy.

CCSO said in Tuesday’s release that deputies and SAR volunteers “continued the search and rescue operation” for McCoy on Monday, Nov. 11. Several members of local fire departments and additional assistance from CORSAR joined the “multi-county Breast” search and rescue team.
