If you’re feeling down, here are some healthy items to bring a little happiness to your day (new photos)

Have you noticed how much negativity surrounds us? A whopping 90% of news is pessimistic and is constantly pushed through our television, phone and computer screens, making us feel overwhelmed, stressed and tired. Being actively bombarded by negative events can make us forget all the good that is in the world.

To break through the negativity and remind us that positive things are happening all around us, Bored panda compiled a list from all over the internet full of healthy gestures that people did for others. Scroll down to find them and be sure to share them with your loved ones who might need a little pick-me-up.

While you’re there, be sure to listen to a conversation with media expert and author of Eternity in the Ether: A Mormon Media History, Gavin FellerPhD, speaker, media and community psychologist, Dr. Alexis Moreno, and clinical director, speaker, therapist and executive coach Alex Honigman of Spirit and reasonwho kindly agreed to tell us more about media negativity and how to seek more positivity.

“Constant exposure to distressing situations securities can increase feelings of anxiety, stress, and even helplessness,” Dr. Alexis Moreno and Alex Honigman, LCSW, of Spirit and reason explain.

“Over time, this focus sheds more light on what is wrong, making it more difficult to recognize the positive aspects of life. Think about things like confirmation bias… It’s not that it’s wrong, it’s just that the focus shifts. We can become so sensitive to problems that our ability to see what is good around us diminishes, creating a dynamic that affects our overall well-being.

Media expert and author of Eternity in the Ether: A Mormon Media History, Gavin FellerPhD, says constant exposure to negative news can cause people to develop “mean world syndrome.”

“It’s a phenomenon discovered by George Gerbner in the 1970s. When we are repeatedly exposed to negative news, we begin to see the world as a more violent and dangerous place than it really is. For example, we are starting to overestimate the level of crime in the world. We develop anxiety, fear and more pessimistic views. This can also lead to self-fulfilling prophecies and confirmation bias, where we see what we look for,” he further explains.

On the other hand, experts say positive news can increase happiness. “Positive stories can refresh our state of mind, promoting feelings of hope, joy and connection. In fact, taking intentional breaks to listen to uplifting stories can build emotional resilience, reminding us that there is balance in the world and helping us see possibilities beyond immediate stress,” say Dr. Moreno and Honigman .

Installation Services associates — one of whom said, “She trained us” — have old signage to gently guide her and her babies in case they look like they’re about to get distracted . They move toward the light of an open door at the end of the hallway.

Feller adds that seeing positive Events occurring in the world can encourage optimism, gratitude, and a balanced worldview, counteracting our natural focus on negativity. “It also inspires what researchers call prosocial behavior, that is, actions like helping, volunteering, and showing empathy that benefit individuals and society. Positive news can also help strengthen community connections and build mental resilience.

Don’t worry, I told him I took his photo. He was very cool.

When we’re stuck in a vicious cycle of negativity, seeking positivity can be difficult or not even occur to us. Feller says we can find more positive news by being more aware of its source and how we interact with social media.

“More and more people are getting their information on social networks. Search and recommendation algorithms show us what we are interacting with. Even the amount of time you spend watching videos will influence what you’re shown next. So to make it more positive, make sure you like, share and follow the positive stories and do the opposite with the negative stories. The platforms will then show you more positive content.

We can also avoid getting overwhelmed by negativity by spending time in nature and meeting people in person. Forcing yourself to get out of the house is definitely worth it. After all, the saying “Go hit some grass” didn’t appear out of nowhere.

Additionally, Dr. Moreno and Honigman recommend reading the news in short bursts and taking intentional breaks. “When we are faced with negative news, pause to reflect and manage your reactions: this intentionality can prevent us from feeling overwhelmed. Be selective, not avoidant, about the information you consume,” they say.

“Remember, consciously engaging with the news can create a more balanced view, helping us stay informed without letting fear or negativity dominate our perspective. It is also useful to participate in news broadcast on a medium that you enjoy! No judgment if you get news from comedians or other places that have fun.

We brought our first daughter home a few days ago and our dogs have been in love ever since. They just sit and watch her from afar and come to gather their family into the room when she starts crying. This is what we have allowed him to get physically close to, but we have been sending clothes and blankets home since he was born so they can become familiar with his scent. They were also very affectionate towards my partner throughout the pregnancy and constantly watching over them.
Ps. Please ignore the butt clothes and unkempt appearance, it’s been a long few days with a newborn.

“For centuries, people have been worried about the state of the world. Every generation can feel panic and fear that we have gone too far, that we are too divided and that the only way out is downfall. But I believe that the world is no worse today than in the past,” comforts Feller.

“There is a lot to celebrate. When we focus on the things that are within our sphere of control and let go of those over which we have no influence, we will be much happier and fulfilled,” he concludes.

He was nervous and told the poll worker it was his first time voting. As we were walking out she announced to the room that he was voting for the first time and everyone applauded. He was proud of AF.

The customer sent me a message in the app saying there was an envelope for me. I picked it up and saw this bill with a $5 bill inside. I thought it was super sweet and wanted to share it.

I saw this guy having coffee with his dog at a local cafe this morning and thought I’d share a wholesome moment. The pooch caught me being a sneaky pupperatzi. It was the only time he didn’t look at his owner adoringly.
