Sudbury News: Power outage in Capreol Wednesday morning

It’s a freezing morning in Greater Sudbury and residents of Capreol have been without power for just under two hours.

“Greater Sudbury Hydro is aware of a power outage affecting all residents in Capreol,” Claude Sharma, a spokesperson for the utility company, said in an email shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Just before 8:30 a.m., Sudbury Hydro said the repair team had identified the cause of the outage and was working to restore power as quickly as possible.

Power was restored around 9:15 a.m., the hydroelectric company said in a statement.

“If you are still without power, please call us at 705-675-7536,” Greater Sudbury Hydro said in a social media post.

The temperature in parts of Greater Sudbury at the time of the outage was -6°C, but was more like -11°C due to wind chill.
