The Karnataka government has set up a one-member commission, headed by retired Justice HN Nagamohan Das, to look into internal reservations regarding government jobs and training opportunities for Scheduled Tribes (STs) of the state.

According to a government order issued on November 12 and shared with the media on Wednesday, the commission will gather empirical data and submit recommendations within two months to “ensure equitable representation of different ST sub-castes in employment and education “.

The government said a separate order would lay down the terms of reference, office arrangements, vehicles, staff, honoraria and other arrangements relating to the functioning of the commission.

The formation of the commission follows a Cabinet decision taken on October 28.
