Walmart planned to remove its oven before 19-year-old employee died

A Walmart in Canada was preparing to remove its walk-in oven before an employee was found dead inside.

After the staff member Gursimran Kaur19, was discovered deceased in the Halifax store’s bakery oven on Oct. 19, a Walmart Canada spokesperson said the device would no longer be used.

“Kiln removal has always been part of the standard renovation program we implement across the country,” the spokesperson said. Amanda Moss said CTV News in a statement. “This is an extremely sad and difficult situation.”

Kaur’s body was found after her mother, who also worked at the store, was unable to make contact with the teen for an hour, according to NBC News. His mother eventually discovered his remains inside the locked oven.

In case of emergency, audio obtained by The daily maila dispatcher told first responders, “The woman is locked in an oven in the bakery. The oven is on, I don’t know if the staff is able to turn it off.”
