Haldia Petro signs agreement to strengthen its phenol production capacity


KOLKATA, Nov 14: Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL), a part of Purnendu Chatterjee-owned Chatterjee Group (TCG), on Thursday said it has signed a license amendment with Lummus Technology to increase phenol production capacity.
Under the terms of the agreement, phenol production capacities will increase from 300 kilotons per annum (KTPA) to 345 KTPA.
The company said its capacity expansion aligns with HPL’s ambitious growth strategy to support the chemical industry. “In line with a greenfield investment of Rs 4,500 crore in West Bengal, HPL will also focus on production of cumene and acetone to meet growing domestic demand and drive downstream growth,” the company said.
Navanit Narayan, Director and CEO of Wholetine, said: “Our collaboration with Lummus has enabled the company to enhance its production capabilities and meet the growing demand for phenol and acetone in India. (PTI)
