A non-profit group in Philadelphia received a life-changing surprise. While on Hello America broadcast on Monday, the SquashSmarts program was recognized for its incredible community service.

Additionally, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation donated $10,000 to the initiative.

During a press tour for “Moana 2”, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson learned of the group’s influence in the community and chose to offer young people a special surprise, according to 6abc.

Johnson told the nonprofit, “I hosted your own private screening in your city as a guest to go see ‘Moana 2.’

Kareem Price, director of student transportation at SquashSmarts, was also honored for his significant contribution to the program.

A Instagram Legend explains that after participating in the youth squash and academic mentoring program for seven years as a sixth grader at McMichael Elementary School in West Philadelphia, Price returned to SqSm in 2002 to serve as a volunteer , coach, role model and transportation director for 160 girls and boys in North and West Philadelphia.

“From me to you, as a man of color, I appreciate the work that you do,” Johnson told Price. “We have the premiere of ‘Moana’; I will take you and your family on a trip as my guests.

Price replied: “This is my family. It means the world to me,” when meeting The Rock, who talked about SquashSmarts “going beyond the reef,” a positive message repeated in the Disney film. Moana 2.

The goal of the program, according to the organization’s founders, is to improve the lives of underprivileged children in Philadelphia’s public schools by providing squash instruction and tutoring.

Their efforts also aim to disrupt the model of public school dropouts in Philadelphia.
