The Gathering Place, a vital community hub providing meals and support to those in need, reaches out to its neighbors and supporters to share an important update on its ongoing work, challenges faced in recent years and a renewed vision of its future.

For more than two decades, The Gathering Place has been a source of hope, providing healthy meals and a safe, welcoming space to people ranging from the homeless and elderly to troubled families and youth.

The organization’s mission, “Providing a hot meal in a warm environment to those in need, while building a healthier community” remains steadfast, but recent financial difficulties have highlighted the need for a transition to greater financial responsibility and greater sustainability.

In a heartfelt open letter to the community, The Gathering Place leaders acknowledge the challenges posed by rising costs and increased demand for services.

“We recognize the financial missteps we have made in recent years and are committed to addressing them with transparency and accountability,” said Board Chairman Peter Gregory.

“While we have always put those we serve first, we understand the importance of balancing compassion with sound financial management. The past year marked a period of transformation for the organization. With the support of a new board of directors, The Gathering Place has adopted a new vision, developed new growth strategies and implemented operational changes aimed at securing its long-term future.
