This winter window promises to be magnificent with so many clubs packed tightly together in the table and a few clever moves could make a huge difference in the end.

Below you will find all the information you need.

What are the dates of the January transfer window for 2025?

From January 1 to February 3, 2025.

When does the January transfer window open?

At 7:01 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

When does the January transfer window end?

Premier League clubs will have until 6 p.m. ET on Monday, February 3, 2025 to make their decisions. If a particular agreement is finalized, clubs can also submit an ‘agreement sheet’ which, if accepted, gives them a few extra hours to complete paperwork and formalities.

Which Premier League players could be on the move during the January transfer window?

There are plenty of names already mentioned, including a new manager at Manchester United, well-publicized injury problems at Manchester City and the possibility of five or six teams being in the title race (and perhaps more than that in relegation). and we can expect a busy winter window.

That said, Premier League clubs must comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), so the trend in recent January windows has been for many loans to be granted.

Here are some players who could be on the move and names you should keep an eye on:

  • Callum Wilson (Newcastle United) – His season so far has been badly affected by injuries, but several teams from mid-table and lower are keen to secure the experienced clinical finisher on loan. Can he stay in shape?
  • Danny Ings (West Ham United) — Basically exactly the same as above. Ings has earned more minutes under Lopetegui in recent weeks and has been useful late off the bench to pick up more points. But if Ings wants to start matches, clubs will be lining up to loan him out.
  • Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Chelsea) — He plays in the Conference League team, but will he want to go out on loan to play regularly in the Premier League? Chelsea’s bloated squad could see a few players leave on loan this winter.
  • Jadon Sancho (Chelsea, on loan from Man United) — Perhaps we could see Jadon Sancho return to Old Trafford now that Erik ten Hag has been sacked? It would be a clean slate for Sancho under new boss Ruben Amorim and despite some bright sparks early on, things aren’t working out for him at Chelsea. It all depends on his injury situation, but he could feature as a No.10 in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 system.
  • Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa (Brentford) — This duo has flown for the Bees at the start of the season and while Brentford are unlikely to sell either one, and certainly not both, in January there are big clubs circling. If the title race is tight, could Mbeumo or Wissa be the proven finishers and impact players some of the bigs desperately need?
  • Antonée Robinson (Fulham) — The USMNT star has become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. Some big clubs are circling around and the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City all have problems at left back. Robinson is reportedly demanding a significant fee after recently renewing his contract with Fulham.

Why does the Premier League January transfer window close in February?

The Premier League has held talks with other European leagues, including the English Football League, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, who have all agreed to close their winter window on the same day: Monday February 3, 2025.

For what? Well, it harmonizes the whole process and means that one league will not benefit over the other if it leaves its window open a little later in order to be able to sign players who were not picked up before the deadline in other countries. It’s good to get along.
