Can the WSL escape the shadow of the Premier League?

IN 1992, 22 English first division clubs resign from the Football League to create the Premier League. This newcomer has since become the richest football league in the world. In August, women’s football in England had its own moment in 1992. The Women’s Super League (WSL), a 12-team competition managed by the Football Association since its creation in 2010, has come under the control of a new entity, Women’s Professional Leagues Ltd (WPLL). The organization’s boss, Nikki Doucet, wants to ensure that WSL “the most distinctive, competitive and entertaining women’s football club competition in the world”.
