Authorities discover guns and meth lab in London home during investigation

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — An Oct. 23 burglary investigation in Knox County led police to find guns, a meth lab and a DMT lab at a London home, leading to resulted in the arrest of a man.

Authorities reported that the Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducted a burglary investigation in the Girdler community in Knox County on October 23. This led police to identify and execute a search warrant at a home in Laurel County.

During a search of the house on Old Way Road in London, police seized two of the firearms allegedly stolen from Knox County. Police also found methamphetamine, morphine pills, a meth lab and a DMT lab.

According to authorities, Robert Wayne Simons, 48, was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, an arrest warrant has been issued for Doug Simons, who has not yet been located.

Authorities described DMT as a “potent psychedelic drug known to produce intense, short-acting visual hallucinations.”

In particular, chemists were on site to take samples and properly dispose of the laboratory, officials added.
