Moe says new Legislature will meet for first time on Nov. 25

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said the province’s new legislature will meet for the first time in Regina on November 25.

The fall sitting is expected to last two weeks, which the provincial government says will allow time for the Speech from the Throne and the tabling of “several legislative measures, including the bills needed to meet the government’s campaign commitments.”

Moe will enter the new session with a diminished Sask. The party benches, after his party won another majority in the October 25 election, but lost 14 seats to Saskatchewan’s opposition New Democrats.

Saskatchewan. The party will hold 34 seats in the new assembly, while Carla Beck’s NDP will hold it on the 27th.

Moe addressed the election results in a statement Thursday morning.

“The people of Saskatchewan elected a government with a mandate to ensure a strong economy and a bright future, but we also know that many people voted for change and we will achieve both,” Moe said.

“The new legislature provides an opportunity for a fresh start, and we will waste no time working on residents’ priorities.

Moe said the government would approach the new session with a focus on making “much-needed improvements in health care and education,” while tackling affordability issues and making advance economic growth.

“We are incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to govern for all residents, no matter who they voted for,” Moe said.
