Six Flags Magic Mountain plans 21st roller coaster for 2026 – Daily News

Six Flags Magic Mountain will extend its lead as the roller coaster capital of the world when the Valencia theme park adds a 21st roller coaster to its record-breaking lineup as it continues to fend off challenges from rivals that inch ever closer to the title.

Six Flags Magic Mountain will launch a new roller coaster in 2026 that will be the first thrill ride in North America, according to Six Flags officials.

The new Magic Mountain roller coaster is part of Six Flags’ plan to spend $1 billion on new rides, themed areas, special events and other amenities at its 42 amusement and water parks over the next two years.

Magic Mountain will release additional details on the new roller coaster in summer 2025.

The upcoming Magic Mountain roller coaster is set to open at the former Golden Bear Theater location, according to Landscape of cries. Speculation has focused on adding a 200-foot-tall hyper coaster or a 300-foot-tall giga coaster, according to Screamscape.

Magic Mountain demolished the Golden Bear Theater earlier this year, but park officials have no information to share on what will replace the site.

A banner posted on construction walls around the Golden Bear demonstration site featured a blue and orange cyborg bird with the slogan “Epic Thrills Are Cycling In.”

Magic Mountain remains the reigning king in a roller coaster war It heated up earlier this year when Polish company Energylandia opened two new coasters, bringing its total to 19, just one behind the leader.

Energylandia has been building construction since opening about an hour from Krakow with three roller coasters in 2014. The park added three roller coasters per year in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and two roller coasters per year in 2018, 2021 and 2024, according to Roller Coaster Database.

Energylandia has expressed its desire to win the title from Coaster Capital and aims to overthrow the world champion.

Six Flags Magic Mountain has more roller coasters than any amusement park on Earth – a point of pride for the Valencia theme park. Magic Mountain’s 20 roller coasters currently lead Poland’s Energylandia (19), Canada’s Wonderland (18) and Ohio’s Cedar Point (16), according to the Roller Coaster Database.
