FOXBORO — Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is far from a finished product, but offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt has been very impressed with the rookie’s improvement.

Van Pelt specifically pointed out Maye’s footwork Thursday morning.

“Big growth. Yeah, so definitely, plus advantages, double advantages on some footwork in the last game,” Van Pelt said. “Really understanding, there was a play late in the game against Hooper that looked like a clinical tape. So when you take it off, you put this in, this concept teaches the tape what to do with your feet and your eyes and everything. So it continues to grow.
