Hundreds gather to march in support of Phoenix Children’s Center for Heart Care

PHOENIX (AZFamille) — Hundreds of people laced up their shoes to participate in a special walk to raise money for a Valley children’s hospital.

Families and teams collected donations to support the 7th Annual Pima Center Community Walk For Phoenix Children’s Cardiac Care Centerhosted by Plexus around the world. More than 600 people participated in the event in tribute to the region’s children.

Among the participants was 13-year-old Calvin Hughes. The teen found himself unusually tired while playing basketball, and that’s when doctors diagnosed him with an enlarged heart.

Hughes underwent a heart transplant and stayed at Phoenix Children’s Hospital for 22 days during his recovery, which he credits to Phoenix Children’s Heart Center. At the event, he was first in line and walked with his mother, a Plexus brand ambassador.

In total, the event raised over $136,000, and that’s something great!
