HALIFAX, Virginia (WFXR) – The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is notifying residents of fraud alert calls after receiving multiple reports.

The scam calls indicate that it is Inv. Jeff Burton is calling people to tell them they didn’t show up to court and must immediately pay court fines at a Food Lion kiosk or through Western Union.

The number used is 434-830-9832, which is not associated with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department.

If you receive a scam call, call 434-476-3334 immediately.
