Calling all Swifties and Swift-curious people! In case you’re reading this on November 14: Rolling Stone’s Rob Sheffield will discuss Westerly’s ownership tonight at Westerly. I’m no Swiftie, but Sheffield’s brilliant new book, « Heartbreak is the National Anthem: How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music”, is revealing.

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

Don’t miss three-time Grammy winner and 17-time nominee Lucinda Williams at The Vets on November 15 as she discusses her gripping memoir. “Don’t tell anyone the secrets I told you.”The singer-songwriter’s page-turning memoir feels like a shared journey to the therapist’s couch, with the stories behind the songs, and the lovers and crushes who inspired them. She writes candidly about her mother’s struggles with mental illness and alcoholism.

10th BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH BEER AND CHEESE

Name a more iconic duo; I will wait. Yes, Exeter’s Tilted Barn Brewery is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the best way possible: by pairing Rhody beers with Rhody cheese. They will host Cranston’s Edgewood Cheese Shop for an evening of pairings on November 15th. Your ticket gets you five beers with different cheeses, depending on the billing. $45. COSTUMED DOGS IN PARADE

I’m already there, but if you need more information: Newport’s ThamesGiving Costume Dog Parade hosted by Black Dog General Store will take place on November 16, from noon to 2 p.m. Get ready to see kindness in the parade leaving 240 Thames.

ThamesGiving of Newport aims to bring that old holiday hustle to physical stores in downtown Newport during a month-long celebration. Shop, dine and admire window displays decked out for the holidays as some 80 participating stores, hotels, restaurants and public spaces offer special deals and extended hours. Like last year, the month is busy. Another exciting calendar item: “Copper Pumpkin Extravaganza” with live music at Bowen’s Wharf on November 17 at 2 p.m. Learn more here.

HOME IMPROVEMENT

Is it time to revamp your home? The 16th annual Providence Fall Home Show takes place November 16-17 at the Rhode Island Convention Center. According to billing, you will meet experts and “all types of home sellers», from kitchen renovators to regional landscape architects. General admission: $10, seniors $8, children 12 and under free. 100th ANNIVERSARY WITH DIONNE WARWICK & CO.

All hail the queen of Twitter. One of my favorite tweeters – oh, and a living music legend – Dionne Warwick will help a Rhody theater celebrate the big 1-0-0. The Historic Park Theater and Event Center in Cranston will celebrate its 100th anniversary on November 17. A week of celebration ends with the icon go on stage. I say a little prayer for her. “A CHRISTMAS STORY” CHOCOLATE AND STARS EXHIBITION

Stars from “A Christmas Story” and all the chocolate you can eat? It sounds like a vacation dream come true, but it’s happening in Lincoln on November 17th. The Chocolate Expo in Bally’s Twin River offers tastings of chocolate and other sweet treats, wine, cheese, cider and more. And, according to their website, Zack Ward and Scott Schwartz of “A Christmas Story” will share memories of the film during a panel discussion at 11 a.m. Autographs are available for a fee set by the actors. NITRO CIRCUS

Experience the X-Games at AMP on November 20 with Nitro Circus. Expect to see freestyle motocross, skateboarders, BMX, scooters and “crazy gear” with live DJs, according to AMP billing.

EVENING AT THE THEATER

Unplug and watch live theater.

Bill Harley in “An Iliad”? Yes. Billed as “a modern retelling of Homer’s classic…The only character on stage is a storyteller – perhaps Homer, perhaps one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps.” » The show is not aimed at children, but seems fascinating to the generations of Rhode Islanders who grew up with Harley. A former Providence resident and member of the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame, Harley began singing for the children and families of Providence about forty years ago. Along the way, he helped found Stone Soup Coffeehouse, won two Grammys, and had two books adapted at Gamm Theater. Our theater critic called it “fascinating “ in the role. Tony Award winner “Amadeus” is currently playing at the Gamm. Peter Shaffer’s play, directed by Tony Estrella, is set in 1823 Vienna and tells the story of Mozart and his “bitter rival”, the court composer Antonio Salieri. From $58. 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Details here.

“The Wish: A Manual For A Last Ditch Effort To Save Abortion In The United States Through Theater,” from new nonprofit theater company Reverie Theater Group, will run at 134 Collaborative Nov. 7-17. THE SPLENDOR OF FLORENCE

THE Splendor of Florencea Providence-wide public festival, runs through November 17. This year’s theme, “Sott’Acqua: A tale of two cities under water”, focuses on climate change. According to the festival’s website, we can expect an event focused on Providence and Florence, Italy, and the flooding in both cities.

Renaissance Painting Techniques with a RISD Instructor, November 15, 1-3 p.m., 20 North Main St.

The Splendor of Italian Opera, an evening of Italian opera at Grace Episcopal Church in Providence with singers from the Academy of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. November 16, 7:30 p.m. 300 Westminster St.

LAST GALLERY EVENING

Last call for art visits! Take in the final gallery night of Season 24 on November 21. PUB MURDER MYSTERY CHALLENGE TRIVIA

This sounds like Clue Meets “Jeopardy!” » On November 21, Providence Brewing Company is hosting “A Pub Murder Mystery Challenge: The Case of the Poisoned Boss.”

It’s not a show with actors, it’s a trivia game combined with a murder mystery puzzle. Each participating group answers questions each round to learn the details of the murder.

BRIGHT HOMES

It’s Glow Time: The 5th Annual Sparkling Lights at The Breakers in Newport lights up on November 22.

Walk along a half-mile trail decorated with lights and a new 60-foot lighted tunnel. Finish at the fire pits on the back patio. Holiday treats and drinks are available for purchase at The Breakers Welcome Center.
