Cooler than average temperatures are forecast for the Austin area next week

A cold front is expected to make its way into the Austin area early next week, bringing with it very cool than average temperatures.

The cooler weather will bring some relief to Austinites, who have so far experienced record warmth and above-average temperatures this fall.

The forecast calls for daily high temperatures in the 60s and 70s, and low temperatures in the 40s and 50s.

“Cool mornings and pleasant afternoons is what it looks like,” said Bob Fogarty, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Some areas could see even cooler temperatures, including below zero, he said.

“We will likely have freezing temperatures in the Hill Country and colder parts of the region,” he said. “Bergstrom (the airport) is in a very low-lying area, and they colder than the rest of the city all the time.”

A few rain showers will also be possible Sunday or Monday with the arrival of the cold front.
