Royals win Region 6 title, Knights third | News, Sports, Jobs

Kari Gibb/MDN The South Prairie-Max team and fans celebrate winning the second set of the Region 6 championship match against the Surrey Mustangs on Thursday, Nov. 14, at Minot Auditorium.

The 2024 Region 6 Volleyball Tournament concluded on Thursday, November 14, as the four teams vying for the title and third place represented District 12 for region honors.

South Prairie-Max 3 Surrey 0

The Royals faced the District 12 Surrey Mustangs for the Region 6 title and scored 25-21, 25-13 and 25-18 for the sweep and region crown.

South Prairie-Max was led by Azjiah Trader with 12 kills, three blocks, 13 digs and an ace in the win. Skotti and Skyler Beck each had nine kills while Skotti added a block. Reagan Trudell had 35 assists and five digs for the Royals while Keira Francis added five kills.

Delaney Nakel had 26 digs and Abby Mikkelson blocked South Prairie-Max in the win.

Surrey was led by Kenzie Neighbors with six kills and 14 digs. Makya Gerding also added six kills to go along with a block and an ace for the Mustangs.

Avery Cree and Alexa Ryals each added eight assists while Carmyn Guy had 13 digs. Cree also had two aces in this effort.

Des Lacs-Burlington 2

Our Redeemer Christian School faced familiar foe Des Lacs-Burlington in the Region 6 third place game at Minot Auditorium on Thursday, November 14, for seeding and a chance at the Class B state tournament The Knights battled the Lakers for five frames and scored 25-18, 25-12, 23-25, 24-26 and 15-11 for a 3-2 victory.

Our Redeemer was led by Mikayla Altringer with 19 kills and four blocks while Brooklyn Roedocker added 13 kills and two blocks. Tavia Carlson had 11 kills, 28 digs, two blocks and two aces in the match. Noel Pankratz also added eight kills.

Grace Olson had 52 assists in the game where she surpassed the 1,500 mark for her career. Olson also completed 18 digs for Our Redeemer’s. Olivia Ebel had 26 digs and an ace while Ellie Streyle added 18 digs for the Knights.

Kadyn Brown added 16 digs and four aces for Our Redeemers while Ashyn Vix had two blocks and Alena Hall had an ace in the win.

Logen Ystaas had 16 kills, 22 digs, an ace and a block for the Lakers while Piper Feller added 14 kills, 18 digs and an ace for Des Lacs-Burlington. Mycah Faken had eight kills and a block while Kaylee Werner added 39 assists and 26 digs in the effort.

Ava Brown had 14 digs and a block while Maizy Frey had a pair of aces for the Lakers.
