The good weather is back

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) –

We are behind a cold front and cooler air is moving in. So, make sure to grab a jacket or sweater before heading out the next few mornings. You’ll start the day with a 40-something if you leave early Friday through Sunday. These numbers are seasonal and are what you would expect at this time of year in terms of waking temperatures. It may also be cold enough for some of you to turn on the heating.

Afternoon high temperatures will also be more “fall-like” for Friday with temperatures around 70 degrees. Highs will be slightly above average Saturday with a low of 70 degrees, then highs will climb well above average Sunday with mid to upper 70s…but relatively pleasant for most.

FIRST ALERT – POSSIBLE FIRST FROST OF THE SEASON

Rain is not a problem this weekend, but rain chances will return early next week ahead of a strong cold front that moves through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Behind this system, expect the coldest air of the season so far and the potential for the FIRST FROST of the season. Early estimates show that lows could drop into the mid-30s starting next Friday morning…and through all of next weekend. So, start preparing for the colder nights/mornings by the end of next week. Stay tuned to our First Alert Weather Teams for updates as we get closer to the “fall chill.”
