Federal funding to help Burnaby businesses promote clean technology solutions

“New ideas and revolutionary advances shape the city and fuel a vibrant business community.”

Three Burnaby-based companies will receive more than $3.7 million in federal funding to advance their clean technology solutions under the government’s PacifiCan program.

Burnaby North-Seymour MP and Minister of Citizen Services Terry Beech announced on Wednesday, November 14 that pH7 Technologies Inc., a metal processing company, would receive $1.5 million to purchase and install new equipment specialized mental extraction.

“The company’s innovative process provides an economical and sustainable way to extract critical metals from recycled materials, which are vital to the global transition to clean energy,” explains a press release.

The system uses less water and energy while producing no greenhouse gas emissions.

The funding will help increase production capacity in Burnaby.

“Burnaby is leading the way in sustainability and innovation. New ideas and revolutionary advances shape the city and fuel a vibrant business community,” added Beech.

“PacifiCan is here to support these organizations as they expand into new markets, create quality jobs and transform global industries. The investments announced today will strengthen British Columbia’s competitiveness on the global stage and help ensure long-term prosperity and a cleaner future for all British Columbians. .”

PosiTrace, which provides fleet management and GPS tracking solutions, will receive $1.23 million in funding that will help expand its local operations and create new jobs.

Rigid Robotics will receive $975,000 to further develop its AI-based cloud platform and application technology for the mining industry.

The technology is capable of providing real-time data insights and analytics that help mining companies improve operational efficiency and human safety while reducing emissions.

The investments are expected to create a total of 47 new jobs.
