Kate’s 5 fun things to do in Waterloo Region and Guelph: November 15-17

A mild fall weekend is ahead with many events in the region.

THE Guelph.Beer Busa free shuttle between the city’s breweries, will make its last trip of the year on Saturday. It’s also Guelph Beer Day, where beer lovers are encouraged to purchase a local pint.

Danny Michel and Steve Poltz are playing a show in Guelph Saturday night at the Royal City Mission.

I, The Mountain — appearing on CBC KW Do The Season Kind Show on December 6 – is hosting a CD release party Friday night at TWB Brewery in Kitchener.

THE Kitchener Rangers will be home Friday night to host the Peterborough Petes, then hit the road for a game Sunday in Sarnia.

THE Guelph Storm I’m home Friday and Saturday. Friday night they will host the Niagara IceDogs and Saturday afternoon the London Knights will be in town.

Santa Claus parades

KW: Saturday at 10 a.m.

Cambridge: Saturday at 6 p.m.

Better be careful, better not cry, and if you’re driving, better be prepared for detours. Santa Claus is coming to town this weekend for two parades.

The KW parade begins at 10 a.m. in Kitchener and continues north on Weber Street to Waterloo.

The Cambridge Night Parade will begin at 6 p.m. and will run along Hespeler Road from Dunbar Road to Langs Drive.

St. Jacobs sparkles

All weekend

Village of Saint-Jacobs

This is the first of two Sparkles weekends in the village. Special offers will be available at local stores and restaurants.

There are also strolling singers, local high school bands, live music at local venues, a hot chocolate bar, live music and horse-drawn carriage rides.

A Christmas market will be organized by Neruda Arts and Santa will stop by the Home Furniture store on Saturday afternoon.

Ice and winter lights

Kickoff takes place Friday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., then runs every evening until January 1st.

Central Park, Cambridge

This light display in the park is the first event of Cambridge’s annual Winterfest. There will be live entertainment and KW Huron Beavertails will be present at the launch event. There are also special visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Quadball Canada Eastern Regional Championships

Saturday and Sunday

University of Waterloo

Hundreds of athletes will be in Waterloo this weekend for the Harry Potter-inspired sport of Quadball.

Basically, muggle quidditch, the mixed contact sport, will be played by teams hoping to win here so they can compete on a national level.

People are allowed to watch the teams in action.

Holiday craft and craft markets are in full swing and there are many events happening in the community.
