The Premier Inn chain has obtained permission to increase the number of rooms at one of its hotels by converting a former pub.

Shropshire councilors have approved its application to add 11 new rooms at its site close to Mile End services.

Oswald’s Cross pub, which previously operated as a Table Table restaurant, closed in July.

The development will increase the number of rooms at the Oswestry Hotel to 109.

The hotel chain said the conversion would be “relatively minor in nature” and would contribute to “the economic growth of the region and the improvement of hotel capacity”.
